Summary

Fertilization according to soil hydraulic conditions, fertilization in balance of nutrition and fertilization with nutrient use efficiency and sustainability are reestablished as the principles of fertility management in dryland area on the Loess Plateau according to the natural conditions and soil properties. Corresponding techniques to the principles are reviewed and represented in the paper.
