Summary

The cultivation of vegetables under Dendrocalamus asper plantation in Jharkhand, India, is briefly described. The five-year old plantation was intercropped with potatoes, tomatoes, ginger and pea. The yield of potatoes, ginger and tomatoes decreased when cultivated in a bamboo plantation as compared to the data from the monoculture plantation. The performances of pea and ginger were found satisfactory.
