The importance, geographical distribution, cultivars, cultivation aspects (soil, climate, land preparation, propagation, planting material, raising of nursery, shade, transplanting, manures and fertilizers, irrigation, and intercropping), pest and diseases and their control, harvesting, crop yield, drying, distillation of oil, oil content and chemical constituents and storage of oil of patchouli ( Pogostemon patchouli [ Pogostemon cablin]) are briefly discussed.
