Konza Chamber Players

Friday, Oct. 3, 2025
Performers on the opening concert of this year's series will be K-State faculty Amanda Arrington, piano; Colleen White, flute; Alyssa Morris, oboe; Amy Guffey, clarinet; Susan Maxwell, bassoon; and Jacqueline Fassler-Kerstetter, horn. The concert will begin with Mozart's Quintet for Piano and Winds, K. 452, followed by the Suite for Wind Quintet by Amanda Harberg. This recital will conclude with award-winning composer Alyssa Morris's Konza Parable, an extended musical salute to the Flint Hills.


Syneva Colle, cello, and William Roger Price, piano

Cellist Syneva Colle, who joined the K-State faculty in 2024, will be featured in her first Hale Library concert. She will be assisted by pianist/composer William Roger Price, emeritus professor at the University of Tulsa. Claude Debussy's Cello Sonata, one of the masterworks of the cello repertoire, will open the recital, followed by Katcina Dances by Louis W. Ballard, who is known as "the father of Native American composition." This recital will include transcriptions of art songs by Clara Schumann (the most famous female composer/pianist of the 19th century) and will feature the world premiere of Under the Sun by William Roger Price.

Sławomir Dobrzański, pianist

K-State professor of piano Sławomir Dobrzański will perform a recital of 19th- and 20th-century piano masterworks by German composer/pianist Clara Schumann, Polish-American composer/pianist Anton de Kontski (also known as Antoni Katski), Czech master Leoš Janáček, and Hungary's most important composer, Béla Bartók. Dobrzański has recorded three albums of music by the prolific Kontski for Acte Préable, a CD label specializing in Polish music, and has won high accolades for resurrecting the music of this colorful, world-travelling musician.

Jazz in June

Current and former K-State music faculty Michael T. Brown, bass; Kurt Gartner, drums; Wayne Goins, guitar; Paul Hunt, trombone; and Nate McClendon, saxophone; will be joined by guest pianist Beau Jarvis to present an evening of jazz classics. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served cabaret-style.

Permits are not required to park in in "O, W, T or Z" lots after 5 p.m. Lots A5, A6 and E9 have the nearest access to Hale Library. Visit parking services' webpage for a larger map.
