The Saint John's Bible

The Saint John's Bible is the first handwritten, hand-illuminate Bible produced in over 500 years. The Morse Department of Archives and Special Collections is honored to have a Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible. Limited to 299 seven-volume sets, the Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible is true to the scale, beauty and artistic intent of the original manuscript.

Trained docents can bring the Heritage Edition to your organization or gathering. Docents can provide presentations about the Bible, and attendees are encouraged to engage and interact with the Bible. So far, the Bible has traveled across much of Kansas.

About the donors

In 2012, Warren and Mary Lynn Staley of Edina, Minnesota generously gifted their Heritage Edition of The Saint John's Bible to K-State Libraries. They were also tremendously supportive in the creation of a programming series and the docent program to further engage as many people as possible. The Staleys graduated from K-State in 1965 and have been involved with The Saint John's Bible project since 1998.
